Blue Grass Commercial Landscaping provided full-service landscape supply and installation for the Barracks Building Renovation & Site Improvements project. Guided by the concept of confluence—inspired by the meeting of the Bow and Elbow Rivers—the project creates a meaningful connection between the built environment, the surrounding landscape, and Indigenous cultural use.

The landscape improvements were designed to link newly renovated interior gathering spaces with the exterior site, creating flexible, welcoming outdoor environments that support ceremonies, programs, and community activities. Pathways, planting, and site furnishings integrate seamlessly with the existing circulation network while enhancing safety, accessibility, and long-term site functionality.

The removal of existing site structures improved daylight, visibility, and access at the east entrance, while expanded views reconnect the site to the natural river landscape. In partnership with the Aboriginal Friendship Centre of Calgary, the project delivers a safe, inclusive outdoor setting that supports cultural expression, healing, and intergenerational learning.
